Welcome back to lobby service!

Our team has been serving you through our drive-up lanes, on the phone, and through our digital banking services during this period of disruption. Now, we are pleased to announce the reopening of our lobbies in all of our banking offices. Click the Lobby and Drive-Up Service Updates link above for detailed information.

We want you to know what we are doing to ensure the safety of our customers and our employees:

  • Protective shields will be placed in front of designated service area to minimize contact.
  • Floor graphics will be placed for visitors to safely physically distance from one another.
  • Hand sanitizing stations will be available.
  • Deposit tickets and product and service information packets will be available only by request.
  • Our employees will wear masks while serving you, will sanitize hands and work stations frequently, and will complete health assessments before reporting to work.
  • The number of people inside our lobbies may be limited at any given time.
  • Bathrooms are closed to the public, and we will not serve coffee or other refreshments at this time.
  • Depending on the office layout, you may find a greeter at the door who will be monitoring the number of individuals in the facility or asking that you briefly remove your mask for proper identification. Also, due to the physical restriction of some locations, you may find the doors locked. We will have instructions on how to gain access to service.

How you can help us:

  • We strongly recommend you wear a mask to help protect our employees and customers. You will be asked to briefly lower your mask and present an ID so we can identify you and accurately transact your business. If you are uncomfortable with this, please continue using our drive-up service.
  • Use a pen…take a pen! If you need a pen, please ask for one, then take it with you.
  • Use the floor graphics provided to physically distance from one another.
  • Please do not wander into other areas of the office. Staying within our lobby service area will help our employees focus on our customers rather than cleaning other areas of the office.
  • If you feel ill, please do not enter our lobby. We can serve you through our drive-up lanes, our Online Banking and Mobile Banking services, or on the phone.
  • Do not extend your hand for a handshake. We’re avoiding unnecessary contact at this time and would rather greet you by saying hello.

Please also continue using our drive-up service along with our Online Banking and Mobile Banking services. Your German American team has been working hard to serve you through this period of disruption. We appreciate your business and your loyalty.

Direct Payment to Tax Payers

Update on April 16th, 2020:
Economic Impact Payments

The IRS has started issuing the Economic Impact Payments in the form of “stimulus checks” or “recovery rebates” this week. We’ve had numerous questions about when these funds might hit your bank account. In an effort to help answer your questions, we encourage you to visit the IRS Website, as eligibility to receive the Economic Impact Payment is different for everyone.  If you are eligible, your funds may be issued by check or direct deposit. If your funds are directly deposited into an account with German American Bank, it will appear as pending in your online or mobile banking site. If you don’t see it there, either the IRS has not issued it to you yet, or we have not received it.

Be aware of tax frauds and scams!  German American Bank, nor the IRS, will contact you and ask for personal information. Beware of text messages, phone calls, websites, or social media posts that attempt to request money or personal information.

Tax credits in the form of checks or direct deposit will be issued as follows:

$1,200 per adult and $500 per child to individual filers earning less than $75,000 annually.

$1,200 per adult and $500 per child to joint filers earning less than $150,000 annually.

Lesser amounts will be provided to those individual filers earning more than $75,000 and less than $99,000, and those joint filers earning more than $15,000 and less than $198,000.

If you qualify for these direct payment checks, no action is needed for you to receive the payment. If you have a German American Bank account on file with the IRS for payments such as tax refunds or Social Security benefits, you will most likely receive your payment electronically within a month. German American Bank online and mobile banking users are encouraged to activate deposit alerts to receive notification of deposits into your account.

If you do not have bank account on file with the IRS, you will most likely receive a paper check in the USPS mail. Please watch your mail for that check and consider enrolling in the USPS Informed Delivery Service to electronically view the contents of your daily mail. If you receive a paper check, you can deposit your check using mobile check deposit available within German American Bank’s Mobile Banking app. You may also use our drive up service, including our ITM drive up service to deposit the check into your German American Bank account.

Mortgage Assistance

If you are experiencing hardship associated with the coronavirus and need help with your mortgage payments, the CARES Act enables mortgage lenders and servicers to provide up to 180 days of forbearance (payment deferral) on federally-backed mortgage loans. Contact our team to discuss your options.

Student Loan Assistance

All payments for federal student loans (Direct and FFELP) are deferred through September 20, 2020. Contact your student loan services to discuss eligibility and options. The top three servicers are:

COVID-19 Small Business Emergency Relief Resources

Update on April 27th, 2020:
Congress has recently approved a second round of funding for the CARES Act Paycheck Protection Program and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is once again accepting applications. German American Bank will continue to process all existing applications.

Update on April 16th, 2020:
Paycheck Protection Program Update

The Small Business Administration (SBA) announced today that the $349 billion authorized for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) has been exhausted. The SBA is no longer accepting applications for the PPP loans. Your German American Bank team had processed over 2,000 PPP loans for our business customers before these funds were exhausted. We will continue working with our business customers to help support them as programs become available. Please contact your local business bankers.

The SBA is offering emergency relief programs for small businesses and nonprofits affected by the COVID-19 situation. The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) is a result of the unanimously passed Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act on March 25, 2020. Prior to passage of the CARES Act, the SBA began offering the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL). German American Bank is certified by the Small Business Administration and can assist you with your emergency relief needs. Our business bankers are available to discuss your options to determine the best fit for your unique situation and to help you in the preparation and submission of your application to the SBA.

Paycheck Protection Program (PPP)

The PPP is federally guaranteed loan which provides cash flow assistance to small business and nonprofit employers who maintain their payroll during the emergency. Companies with 500 employees or fewer that were operational February 15, 2020 are eligible to participate. All or a portion of the loan proceeds may be forgiven.

No collateral or personal guarantees required.

ECONOMIC INJURY DISASTER LOAN PROGRAM

The EIDL program is a direct SBA loan designed to provide small businesses with expedited working capital loans of up to $2 million for vital economic support.

Loan Size:
Up to $2 million available with the specific amount determined by the SBA based on review of applicant financials, credit and collateral.

Grant:
Emergency grant of up to $10,000 is available with these funds being made available within 3 business days.

Use of proceeds:
The proceeds may be used for fixed debt, payroll, accounts payable and other costs.

Applicants cannot receive duplicate funds for both PPP and EIDL to cover the same losses.
