We also pledge to make this transition seamless and simple for you by providing you with clear communication and resources. During the week of August 5th, please watch for a packet of information mailed to you, which will include all of the important information and dates you need to know as we transition your accounts to German American Bank.


Citizens First Conversion FAQs

  1. Will my routing number change?

    Your routing number, found at the bottom of your checks, will change to 083904563

  2. Will the conversion in any way affect my account?

    We are working hard to make this transition as easy as possible for you. In your Welcome Packet mailed to Citizens First customers on August 1, 2019, you received a booklet that explained which German American Bank accounts your Citizens First Bank accounts will be transitioned to. Feel free to talk to our financial professionals about your unique needs to ensure you are in German American Bank accounts that are right for you.

  3. What if I did not receive a Welcome Packet or no longer have mine?

    Just stop in any German American Bank or Citizens First Bank office and ask for a new packet.

  4. How will I access my Online Banking and Bill Pay?

    German American Bank offers Online Banking at germanamerican.com and Mobile Banking through our German American Bank Mobile Banking app. These services will be available to you starting at 8:00 a.m. central on Monday, September 9, 2019. You may download the German American Bank Mobile Banking App any time; however, it will not be accessible to you until Monday, September 9, 2019.

    1:00 p.m. Central
    Citizens First Bank’s Mobile Deposit service will no longer be available to you starting at 1:00 p.m. central on Friday, September 6, 2019.

    3:00 p.m. Central
    You can use the Citizens First Bank Online Banking, Bill Pay, and Mobile Banking app as usual until 3:00 p.m. central on Friday, September 6, 2019.

    Close of Business
    If you have set up scheduled or recurring account transfers through Citizens First Bank’s Online or Mobile Banking, we recommend disabling these transfers by Friday, September 6, 2019, and setting them back up in your German American Bank Online Banking or Mobile Baking app on Monday September 9, 2019.

  5. Do I need to set up all my direct deposits and automatic payments and transfers with my new German American Bank accounts?

    All of the direct deposits and automatic payments/transfers you have tied to your current Citizens First bank account will see no interruption in service when your account converts to German American Bank on the evening of September 6, 2019. If you have set up scheduled or recurring account transfers through Citizens First Bank's Online or Mobile Banking, we recommend disabling these transfers by Friday, September 6, 2019, and setting them back up in your German American Bank Online Banking or Mobile Banking app on Monday, September 9, 2019. If you do not disable your transfers, they will continue to process; however, they will NOT be available to view or edit in German American Bank’s Online or Mobile Banking. If you need to make changes on transfers which you did not disable, please call our Customer Care Center at (800)482-1314.

  6. Do I need to set up my incoming wire transfers with my new German American Bank accounts?

    If you use an incoming wire transfer service, you will need to provide the following information to the originator to use starting Monday, September 9, 2019.

    • Receiving Bank: German American Bank
    • Receiving ABA number: 083904563
    • Beneficiary name, address and account number. If the beneficiary will need further handling instructions, those should be provided to the sending bank as well, such as “for final credit to,” “payment on invoice number,” or “credit account number,” etc.
  7. Will my checking and savings account number change?

    The vast majority of customers' account numbers WILL NOT change. We did find duplicate account numbers for a small portion of Citizens First Bank customers. These customers were mailed a customized Welcome Packet on August 1st explaining their new account number(s) with German American Bank.

  8. Will I receive a new check card (debit card) for my checking accounts?

    Yes, you will receive a new German American Bank Visa® Check Card or Visa® Business Check Card, which will replace your current Citizens First Bank Check Card. Detailed instructions, along with your new Visa® Check card, will be sent to you on or before September 4, 2019. Please keep the card, yet do not use it until Monday, September 9, 2019. Continue to use your Citizens First Bank Check Card through 8:00 a.m. central on Monday, September 9, 2019.

    You will need to activate your German American Bank Visa® Check Card and select a PIN prior to using it for the first time. To do so, please follow the instructions provided in the card mailer. Since your card number will change, beginning September 9, 2019, please notify merchants currently using your Citizens First Bank VISA® Check Card as a payment method for recurring bills that your card number has changed and provide them with your new German American Bank VISA® Check Card number.

  9. Do I have to activate my new German American Bank Check Card?

    Yes, you will need to activate your new Visa® Check Card. Activate and set your PIN (Personal Identification Number) by following the instructions on the card label on or before Monday, September 9th.

  10. What should I do with my current Citizens First Bank checks and deposit tickets (checking and savings)?

    Please keep using your current checks and deposit tickets (checking and savings). After depleting your supply of Citizens First Bank checks, please call us or visit any German American Bank office to re-order your check supply. We will order your new supply of checks from our preferred supplier, Deluxe. Deluxe will ensure the quality of your checks and convert the Citizens First Bank routing number to German American Bank’s routing number. If you use another check supplier, please contact us before ordering. We will provide you with a specification sheet which should be given to your supplier when placing an order. The sheet will include German American Bank’s routing number 083904563 and the format for the entire MICR line.

  11. If I start using a German American Bank ATM, will I be charged?

    No. Citizens First Bank customers will now have free access to a network of 90 German American Bank ATMs located throughout Kentucky and southern Indiana (visit our Locations page). Beginning Monday, September 9, 2019, you will have access to over 55,000 fee-free Allpoint ATMs worldwide using your new German American Bank Check card.1

    1Allpoint ATM network is fee-free for all German American Bank customers when using their German American Bank Check Card to withdraw cash. When you use an ATM not owned by us or not within the fee-free Allpoint network, you may be charged a fee by German American Bank and the ATM operator.
  12. Will my loan account number change, and will I get new coupon books?

    Your loan account number(s) will not change. Please keep using your existing coupon book(s) to make your loan payments with German American Bank. If you have a loan payment automatically deducted from a Citizens First Bank deposit account, this payment will automatically transition.

    You can make loan payments at any German American Bank office throughout Kentucky and Indiana. You may also mail payments to: German American Bank, P.O. Box 360, Jasper, IN 47547-0360

    If your loan payment is set up as a recurring account transfer through Citizens First Bank’s Online or Mobile Banking, we recommend disabling these transfers by Friday, September 6, 2019, and setting them back up in your German American Bank Online Banking or Mobile Banking app on Monday, September 9, 2019. If you do not disable your transfers, they will continue to process; however, they will NOT be available to view or edit in German American Bank’s Online or Mobile Banking. If you need to make changes on transfers which you did not disable, please call our Customer Care Center at (800)482-1314.

    Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) Checks
    Continue to use your existing Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) checks. In the future, if you need additional HELOC checks, contact us and we will place an order for updated German American Bank branded checks. For ultimate convenience, you can manage your Home Equity Line of Credit within German American Bank’s Online and Mobile Banking services.

  13. When will I get my statement?

    You will be mailed a final paper statement from Citizens First Bank for each of your checking and savings accounts, which will cover the period from your last regular statement through Friday, September 6, 2019. Expect to receive it the week of September 9, 2019.

    Your new checking account statement from German American Bank may arrive at a slightly different time of the month than your current Citizens First Bank statement. If you receive images with your statement, you will continue to receive check images at no charge. Savings account paper statements are issued quarterly and generated on the 10th day of the first month in each quarter. We do not provide images for savings accounts.

    If you receive eStatements from Citizens First Bank, you will continue to receive eStatements from German American Bank. For checking accounts, eStatements are issued monthly and may arrive at a slightly different time of the month than your current Citizens First Bank eStatement. For savings accounts, eStatements are issued monthly and generated on the 10th day of the month. If you currently do not use eStatements, yet would like to enroll, please log in to online banking beginning September 9, 2019, and follow the prompts.

  14. Does German American Bank offer electronic statements?

    Yes, German American calls them eStatements, and they are available in your secure online banking site and mobile banking app. To access or enroll in eStatements, you must log into or enroll in German American’s Online Banking or log into or downloand German American's Mobile Banking App on or after Monday, September 9, 2019.

  15. I have accounts now at both Citizens First Bank and German American Bank. How does that affect my FDIC coverage?

    Contact our banking professionals who will help ensure that you have the maximum amount of FDIC coverage available.

  16. How do I ensure my Quicken, QuickBooks, or Mint.com data is correctly transitioned to German American Bank?

    As Citizens First Bank completes its system conversion to German American Bank, it is important you modify your online settings to ensure a smooth transition. View the conversion instructions below for the service you utilize and follow the instructions in the order presented to keep your service functioning properly:
