German American Bank and EVERFI Award Five $500 Prizes to Area Financial Literacy Bee Winners

German American Bank and EVERFI have announced the five winners of their Financial Literacy Bee Capstone Essay contest with each to receive a $500 VISA gift card.  The EVERFI Financial Literacy Bee is a national financial literacy challenge and essay contest open to students ages 13-19.  Of the over 1,200 students participating in its market area, German American Bank had 249 capstone essays submitted. Of those submissions, one overall winner was awarded by EVERFI and four regional winners were awarded by German American Bank. 

German American Bank partnered with leading education technology company, EVERFI, to host the third annual Financial Literacy Bee. This digital learning challenge enabled junior high and high school students to learn about important financial literacy concepts ranging from budgeting and saving to employment, income, investing, and insurance. Participating students completed a series of financial literacy challenges and then had the opportunity to share a short, medium, or long-term savings goal and outline a plan for how achieve it based on what they learned.

In addition to one overall regional winner chosen by EVERFI, two winners were awarded from German American Bank’s market area in each Indiana and Kentucky.   EVERFI’s overall regional winner is Kolten Lock, a Madison Junior High School student from Madison, Indiana.  German American Bank’s regional winners from Indiana are Johna King, a New Washington High School student from Marysville, IN and Jonathan Wilson, a Madison Junior High School student from Madison, IN.  Winners from Kentucky are  Stephen P. Leonard, Jr., a homeschooled student from Fisherville, KY and Charles Cline, a West Hardin Middle School student from Elizabethtown, KY.  In addition to a $500 VISA gift card, each essay winner will be presented with a certificate and German American Bank themed prizes.
