With historic charm and a variety of unique businesses, downtown Madison has become a thriving place for the small business community. Seeing a need, the Downtown Madison team, led by Senior Retail Officer, Jenny Darnold, began advocating for a program to provide education to local businesses. They found an amazing community parter in the Madison Main Street Program and started with a one-day seminar. Not only did the businesses receive valuable information, they were able to network and collaborate with other business owners.
This year they expanded the seminar to a six-session event. The Driving Small Business Revenue Program concentrated on giving participants a hands-on opportunity to learn about growing their businesses. Industry professionals, including members of the German American team, led sessions about merchandising, hiring, money management, marketing, and customer service. Year after year, the team's work with Madison Main Street has resulted in growing client relationships and a stronger Madison business community. The team has become a valuable resource to help local business owners succeed.
