German American Bank Awards $37,500 in Funds to Rauch, Inc. Through FHLBank Indianapolis Grant Program

German American Bank Awards $37,500 in Funds to Rauch, Inc. Through FHLBank Indianapolis Grant Program

German American Bank, a member of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis (FHLBank Indianapolis), awarded Rauch, Inc. $37,500 in grant funds through the Community Multiplier – Member Match Program.

The $37,500 grant will support Rauch’s efforts to strengthen its Housing department and expand affordable, accessible housing opportunities throughout Southern Indiana. Funding will help support staff responsible for managing and maintaining the organization’s current housing, while building the capacity needed to pursue new housing developments.

Rauch is a nonprofit human service organization serving Southern Indiana. Founded in 1953 as a special needs preschool, the organization has expanded its services to support people with disabilities and others who face barriers to success. Today, Rauch provides children’s services, adult day programming, industrial services, community living programs, employment services and housing.

As a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO), Rauch is committed to community-based housing development with a focus on Scott, Clark and Floyd counties. The organization’s Housing department was established to develop and manage affordable, accessible housing in the primarily rural Indiana communities Rauch serves.

The grant will allow Rauch to continue building the capacity of its Housing department while maintaining its existing properties and pursuing new affordable housing opportunities throughout Southern Indiana.

“We are so thankful for German American Bank’s support of Rauch and our housing initiatives,” said Kelly Scott, Director of Housing at Rauch. “Through their support we have been able to hire a properties coordinator building the capacity of our Housing department and we are well underway on construction of Rauch’s first new housing in 10 years – Bellevue Village, a community of duplexes and triplexes in Scottsburg. We can’t wait to see what else grows under this partnership!”

Bellevue Village marks Rauch’s first new housing development in 10 years. Planned for Scottsburg, Indiana, the development will include 32 duplex and triplex units of affordable, accessible housing, along with office space for local nonprofits, to be completed over three phases. Rauch received a 2024 Affordable Housing Program award to support construction of the first 10 units and has applied for additional funding to support the next 10 units in Phase 2.

The Community Multiplier – Member Match Program is an FHLBank Indianapolis program designed to support targeted affordable housing initiatives that fall outside of its other grant programs. Community Multiplier offers grants for nonprofit organizations headquartered in Indiana or Michigan that partner with an FHLBank Indianapolis member financial institution on targeted affordable housing initiatives.
